Rough Start to Strong Finish: Logos Girls’ Football Team

At Logos International School (LIS), the girls' football team had a season that was all about growth, teamwork, and pushing through challenges. Led by Coach Thomas Sin and team captain Helena Brennan, the football team had a season that didn't start well but ended on a high note.
As the season went on, training wasn't easy. Coach Thomas shared that it was "a bit rough," especially for players who hadn't played in a while and were feeling rusty. Helena also described the early sessions as "awkward," since many of the players were new and lacked chemistry between them. This makes it harder for the team to connect and play smoothly together. In their first few games, that lack of connection showed. Communication wasn't strong, and the team didn't have much chemistry, which led to some tough losses. But over time, things started to change. As practices continued, the players got more comfortable with each other and began to understand how each person played. Helena explained that as they grew closer, communication improved and the team became more confident on the field.
One thing that both Coach Sin and Helena agreed on is how important teamwork is. Coach Sin emphasized discipline, trust, and composure as the top three qualities needed for the team to succeed. Helena shared a similar idea, pointing out that consistent strategies, good communication, and trust in each other are what really helped the team improve. Without these, competing against other schools would be a bigger challenge.
All of their hard work paid off at the PPAC8 finals tournament. The team fought hard and ended up winning third place over Ligers. Coach Sin was happy with the result, but not surprised, because he believed the team had the potential to be one of the top teams from the start. For Helena, the experience was especially meaningful. She shared that she didn't expect the team to make it into the top three, especially when their final game went to penalty kicks.
"Earning third place in the finals my senior year was a hard-earned victory with a sweet reward," she said, showing how much this moment meant to her.
As the season comes to an end, Coach Sin shared a message to the seniors, "I hope you continue to play football even after graduation. I hope that your walk with God will also be strong and that you continue to glorify Him in whatever you do in the future."
